Ecommerce Agency for Growing UK Brands

Design, development, and conversion optimisation for brands that already have traffic and need more of it to buy.

Glasgow-based, working across the UK and globally. Shopify is the only platform we build on.

an ecommerce agency built around one idea

Most brands that come to us believe they have a traffic problem. Almost none of them do. They have thousands of visitors a month and a store that quietly loses nearly all of them before checkout. More ad spend on top of that store just makes the leak more expensive. Fixing the leak is what we do.

Uncover Commerce is an ecommerce agency based in Glasgow. For over 12 years we have designed, built, and grown Shopify stores for UK and international brands. Design, development, and conversion work sit under one roof here, with one team accountable for the numbers that come out the other end.

what we do

one joined-up offering

Plenty of agencies sell design, development, CRO, and retention as separate services with separate teams. We don't think they work that way. A redesign that ignores conversion data is decoration. A testing programme that can't ship code is a slideshow. Everything below is run by one team, against one goal: a store that converts more of the people who visit it.

  1. 01

    Shopify Design & Development

Custom storefronts built on Shopify and Shopify Plus. Every design decision is informed by conversion data, not portfolio aesthetics.

  2. 02

    Conversion Rate Optimisation

A structured testing programme: research, hypotheses, A/B tests, iteration. More revenue from the traffic you already pay for.

  3. 03

    Conversion Growth Retainer

Our flagship engagement. Ongoing CRO and development in one monthly programme, with one team accountable for the numbers.

  4. 04

    Retention & Store Improvements

Email flows, subscription setups, and the steady stream of fixes and upgrades that keep a store improving after launch.

who we work with

A good fit

Established ecommerce brands with real traffic and product-market fit. Typically that means stores doing consistent monthly revenue, on Shopify or moving to it, where the founder or ecommerce lead knows the store could convert better but doesn't have the team to fix it. We work with brands across the UK and internationally, B2C and B2B.

Not a good fit

Pre-launch startups and brands still finding product-market fit. Not because we don't like early-stage businesses, but because our pricing and our methods assume there is existing traffic and data to work with. If you are at that stage, you will get more from a freelancer or a template than from us, and we will tell you that on the first call.

the problem most ecommerce brands have

It is rarely traffic. The average online store converts somewhere between 1.4% and 1.8% of its visitors. That means for every 100 people a brand pays to bring to its site, roughly 98 leave without buying. When growth stalls, the instinct is to buy more visitors. But pouring more traffic into a store that converts at 1.5% just scales the waste.

The maths works the other way too. Move that same store from 1.5% to 2.5% and revenue goes up 66% on identical traffic, for zero extra ad spend. That improvement compounds every month afterwards. This is why conversion work sits at the centre of everything we do, and why our flagship engagement is a Conversion Growth Retainer, not a redesign package.

how we work

Retainer

Most of our clients work with us on the Conversion Growth Retainer: a monthly programme of research, testing, and development. One fee, one team, and a compounding improvement in how the store converts. It suits brands that want a store getting measurably better every month, not a big bang every two years.

Project

Some work is naturally a project: a new store build, a replatform, a migration to Shopify. We scope it, price it fixed, and deliver it with a clear timeline. Many project clients move onto the retainer after launch, because a launch is a starting point, not a result.

We have been doing this since 2013. The Clutch rating comes from verified client interviews, and the Top Agency Scotland 2024 recognition covers three separate Clutch award categories. We would rather show you the work: our case studies include the numbers behind each project.

based in glasgow, working across the uk and globally

We are a Glasgow-based agency and we consider that a feature, not a caveat. You get senior people on your account without London agency overheads baked into the fee, and a team in your timezone that answers when you call.

Most of our clients are elsewhere: across Scotland, England, Europe, and further afield. The work runs remotely with direct communication throughout, and if you want to meet in person, we are happy to arrange visits either way. The quickest route to a conversation is our contact page.

common questions

What does an ecommerce agency do?

An ecommerce agency designs, builds, and grows online stores. In practice the work splits into three areas: the storefront itself (design and development), the rate at which visitors buy (conversion optimisation), and what happens after the first order (retention). Some agencies only do one of these. We do all three, because in our experience they only produce results when they are run together.

How much does an ecommerce agency cost?

It varies widely across the market, from a few thousand pounds for a focused project to six figures for enterprise builds. Our project work typically starts around £3,000 and scales with scope, and our Conversion Growth Retainer is a fixed monthly fee. We are honest about this: our pricing suits established brands with meaningful revenue, not pre-launch startups. You always get a fixed proposal before any work starts.

What is the difference between a Shopify agency and an ecommerce agency?

An ecommerce agency works across the discipline of selling online: platform, conversion, retention. A Shopify agency specialises in one platform. We are both. Shopify is the only platform we build on, which keeps our technical work deep rather than broad, but the thinking we apply (conversion research, testing, retention) is ecommerce thinking, not platform administration.
